Dan Germain
Head of Creative - Innocent Drinks
Dan works at a company called innocent, a place where they make smoothies, juices and other healthy food and drink. He tells the story of how they came to be one of the UK’s most successful business start-ups, and it’s a story that involves entrepreneurial ability, innovation, creativity, original marketing and fruit by the bucketload.
Dan focuses on specific areas, such as the key to effective marketing; how to get noticed without spending a lot; how to start your own business; building a brand from nothing; tone of voice; and innovation and creativity on a tight budget.
He’s worked at innocent since the company started in 1999 and is the company’s Head of Creative. These days his duties include running the in-house creative team, and overseeing all design, copy and creative tasks, from web to books to packaging to advertising. He endeavours to make sure that the innocent brand grows up to be big and strong, as well as still finding time to have ideas, both big and small, that will keep the business interesting. His greatest achievement is helping to create the brand, tone and bad jokes that people have come to associate with innocent.
Organisations who have hired Dan to speak include: Orange, Unilever, O2, BBC, Shell, Interbrew, Cancer Research UK, Oxfam, Ogilvy and Mather, Creative Review, Five TV, NSPCC, Lever Faberge, Coors, EMAP, ?WhatIf!, Marketing Week, D&AD, Pernod Ricard.

Our post conference survey has now been closed and you were the HIGHEST RATED speaker of the entire conference. Bill Duggan [Group Executive Vice President, ANA - Association of National Advertisers, New York] May 2010
Hats off to whoever decided to get Dan along to present - the guy was phenomenal and a complete breath of fresh air - certainly made the conference. Thank you. Anon [Sanofi Pasteur] 27/03/09
I have been dicking about for the last 6 months thinking about leaving a big global brand to go do my own thing. After seeing you speak the "lights went on" and today I resigned! Thank you for making me get out of my chaotic, compliant, self doubting trance. Tracy, 21/11/07
I work at the BBC and would like to say how fabulous and inspiring your talk was this morning. It's nice to come away from something like that feeling recharged and having had a bit of a giggle. The talk was probably a little too motivating, because I've just written to your HR people to tell them how very much I'd like to come and work for Innocent. J, 01/02/07
You’ve been ranked as the number one speaker for the day!! Honestly, I don't think we’ve ever received such positive feedback. Miriam 13/11/06
You caused me immense grief and sleepless nights over the weekend. It had taken me 3 months to write a strategic marketing plan, all of which I binned after hearing your speech - thanks! Lee C 3/5/06
Your presentation delivery was close to perfection. It’s not often I can say that a company guest speaker at a conference kept the production crew awake and amused. In fact, I don’t remember ever saying it. Alex 29/04/04
The most inspiring, and the certainly the funniest talk I've ever heard at these kind of events. Charlotte 15/03/05
Dan was without a doubt the most inspirational person we've had speak at these departmentals [BBC inspiration sessions]. We've all come away chattering away about Innocent drinks and Dan's company. Please pass on my thanks to him - more like this please! Katie 30/06/04
After listening to your presentation, I honestly feel inspired with the wonderful opportunity for business to shape life in a positive way. Suzanne 17/11/04
Your 7 lessons make an excellent mantra for living life as much as they are for steering a business, and I’ll take much away from that. Nikki 21/07/04
I was completely inspired by the presentation you gave. Your talk cheered me up. Calum 01/03/06
